Matthew 2

Matthew 2 starts with the visit of the wise men to Jesus. They were led by a star on their way to where Christ was born. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother, Mary, and bowed down and worshipped Him. They were warned in a dream to not report back to Herod and so they went home on another route.

When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and told them to escape to Egypt. Hence, even when Herod gave orders to kill every boy aged two and under at that time, Jesus was safe. When Herod died, Joseph dreamed again and an angel told him that they can go back to the land of Israel as those who want to kill Jesus are dead. 

FOCUS ON:

 Verse 12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.

 Verse 13 When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”

 Verses 19-20 After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child’s life are dead.”

God communicated to the wise men and to Joseph through dreams. Therefore, we can say that there are times when God tells us things through dreams. If we ask God to give us revelations in our dreams and open our hearts to Him, there is a great chance that He will send you a message in your dream.
