“Then, Peter came to himself and said, "Now I know
without a doubt that the Lord sent his angel and rescued me from Herod's
clutches and from everything the Jewish people were anticipating."
Chapter 12 of Acts was
about how Herod kept Peter as a captive because he wanted to kill him. To
ensure that Peter would not be able to escape, Herod had him bounded. However,
the Lord saw that Peter was in a position that He did not deserve and since He
still has more plans for Peter, He sent His angel to save him. As the angel led
Peter out of prison, he thought that he was only having a vision. Then, when he was safe outside and
the angel has left him, he realized that what happened to him was real and he was
saved by the Lord.
As we know, Peter, as one
of the disciples of Jesus, tried his best to spread the word of God. By doing
it, he also experienced a lot tribulations and he made a lot of sacrifices. In
our lives, there are a lot of times when we experience hardship and when we
have to make sacrifices for others. During those times, it is good to remember
what the disciples went through just so they can preach the good news regarding
Jesus in their time. Of course, we should not also forget the sacrifice of
Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven just so we can be saved. We must also
keep in mind that the God who loves us deeply is not deaf to our pleas for
help. He hears our cries of anguish and
He is very willing to help us. Even though it seems that only the impossible can solve
our problems, we should remember what the Bible says,
that is, with God all things are
possible.
